I think that's the sportsman's version of the SOG Seal Pup. I have the Seal Pup and it's a good knife. Very rugged and can take a beating.

Yeah 80 bucks for the full blown pup was a bit much wene buying two of them, the field pup was a bit smaller on the handle as well ( kids are 9 and 10 so... ) Plus when I got my seal it was $99 and the pups were $50 so the $30 extra seemed to be Bs if you ask me. Where I live everything is 20-30% more than the rest of the world Oh yeah we are moving down into the arkansas river valley ( salida ) kinda of excited. More type of trees got rattlers, and I guess all the other run of the mill stuff in lower elevations

Ok my quick review Good leverage Good edge retention Comfortable to hold Sheath is pretty good, large front pocket could easily hold a multi tool, fire kit plus purification tablets as well, and what ever you could dream up All n all I'm happy with the purchase

I have a SOG field pup and I like it, I use it at the campground when I go hiking, the size does not attract attention, very rugged, I think for the price it is a very good knife.

Thanks for the review, been looking at a seal pup but not crazy about serrated edges but that's just me. Like the price too. I have a SOG government agent left too me by my dad and its a fantastic woods knife even though it is not a typical woods design. Just wish it was carbon instead of stainless. Are you planning on posting any testing videos or pics? would be interested in seeing them at work before spending money on one.

Dang I'm not really the guy for pics and right now. But I can tell you I'm a knife guy. Not the most knowledgeable to all aspects off all blades and grinds an such. Tonight me and my daughter were out side playing with the telescope. She ask if she could get her new knife. Of douse !! She wanted to do what she still thinks is widdling. Just sharpening the end of a stick, over and over till it's to short to cut. Not only was I impressed with how the knife just chew threw like it was nothing, but for how well she was killing it. I am VERY happy with these little knives I'm thinking about doing some baton's with her tomorrow evening, and right now I'm very confident it will preform
I'm moving to BV where you at

Two times on that, my seal is still my best work horse
And I love the little serrated section. Make making wood shaving a snap
