I would much prefer to see reviews and tests from members of this forum. You are the people I interact with. You are the people I can ask questions.
There are about 10 million people doing gear reviews on Youtube in search of fame and fortune. Some are pretty good, but most are worthless.
Just my thoughts.

+1 Saying most are worthless is being generous.

I guess I’m just not following ya'll. I've looked back at all the threads in this forum (33) I only found reference to youtube on 2 or 3 threads. And I took them as a "what do ya think of this" rather than "this is the last word on this item".
So yeah, maybe one should just post a link to the product, rather than a youtube vid, but I still don't see it as a big problem here.
All the other threads have been VERY GOOD reviews by our members. And by that I mean they have done a fairly extensive review of a product they have purchased. They have also asked for experience with certain products from the members.
And having said that, in those 33 threads I also only see very limited posts by staff. Seems either most of what has been reviewed and tested is not anything you’re interested in or you think there is too much youtube, which there is not much at all.
This is one of the forums I really like. I think we do an outstanding job of presenting our reviews and questions.
I'll shut up for now, before I get in more trouble than I can get out of.
Jimmy

+1 Saying most are worthless is being generous. There's a reason I don't take youtube reviews seriously.

Jimmy My point was to encourage members to do their own reviews rather than to rely on those of strangers. Didn't mean to indicate it was a problem here.

The problem with YouTube, at least in my opinion, is that there is money to be made and there are plenty of people that have made millions from it... Which leads me to believe that there's a lot of people out there that produce content for the sake of producing content and trying to monetize it instead of out of actual interest, or at least not wholeheartedly.

wow!
I had looked at it as "hey here is a review of a new magic formula that I thought was worth looking or that I thought was so far off base that I thought it was worth sharing as "what some idiots will do" or it may have been something I ran across and didn't know if I should believe it or not and was asking for a more informed opinion.
But it comes out as another example of just how far out of the normal scope of things I am.
Sorry I will try harder to only post what I have personally tested/tried/ate or broke.
Thanks for the heads up.

You can use it for whatever you please. I was merely posting my personal preferences. For others - their mileage may vary.

I don't claim to be an expert or tv quality talent but I enjoy taking my camp gear and trying it out and sharing that experience on the youtube channel. I just did about 10 videos with different stoves and stuff I have, at my backyard grill. Some videos I do in the field, just did a sleep system review at a frozen campground a couple weeks ago. I agree with Crash though, I like to read and see opinions from actual users before I shell out on new trinkets. Share your thoughts folks!

+1 Saying most are worthless is being generous. I second the motion. I guess I can always toss in my .02 though. I'd rather hear your .02 than an unknown Youtuber.
