Well the wife and I went to a local asian foods fish market the other day. Walking through their isles we came upon a kitchen tools section with knives, cleavers, utencils, etc. Then something peaked my interest. Out of the corner of my eye I saw this strange hefty machete looking tool with a weird blade. The handle said product of Thailand. I saw this: I asked everyone I could find (at the store) what it was. All I got was, "It looks like a machete". It is about 18 inches long with a rolled steel hollow handle (like the Cold Steel Bushman). It has a 1/3" to 1/2" thick spine. It looks to be made from some sort of leaf spring...good carbon steel with a convex grind. This thing is beefy. It could take out a 2"-3" diameter tree in one swipe. Well, after some research online I found it was called an E-toh. It's a coconut machete. I'm going to give it some testing. It looks to be my new multi tool. The spine could be a hammer. The beefy edge is machete and hatchet in one. The wide end could be used as a small shovel. I'll post pics of mine once I modify it.

Nice. Looks solid too. Where did you get it? 15 bucks is a steal Pretty much any decent sized asian foods market. Go to the section where they have woks, cleavers, utensils, etc. Should be there. May be the kind with a full tang instead of a rolled tang. Both are solid. I'll warn ya though, it is heavy. If you are ever in St. Louis go to U-City. There's an asian foods market on Olive called Seafood city. That's where I got mine. There's also another market across the street. They may have one.
