The guy at University of Central Florida was going to accomodate. He had a .45 pistol and a 'tactical' .22 rifle with several hundred rounds plus IEDs. But he's dead.. suicide. Pull the fire alarm, get everyone out so he could shoot them. 30 year old guy living in the dorm.. they were evicting him because he didn't register for spring term. it's a crazy a$$ world we live in for sure.

I read a great article that I of course now can't find.
The point it made was that DiFi knows the ban is unlikely to pass. According to the author it's all about looking good to her supporters, getting more supporters and that leads to campaign contributions. The author made the same claim about the pro gun politicians and said both sides need to stop sucking up to their supporters and actually do something that will make sense. Improved mental health care etc...
I hope to figure out where I saw it and find it again.

I believe the other shoe will be an ammo tax. With cash strapped states and the same for the federal government.
12 billion rounds produced domestically every year with billions more imported (9 or so billion).
For 12 billion rounds:
5 cent tax - 600 million a year 10 cent tax - 1.2 billion a year 25 cent tax - 3 billion a year
If it were up to states like Maryland it would be 50 percent of the ammo cost. At an average cost per box of 50 of 15 dollars it would be 27 billion.
That's on a Fed level excluding state taxes. Think it won't happen? Take a look at what the Fed and many states have done to cigarette and alcohol taxes.
If they can't ban the fire arms, they can tax the ammo out of existence.

I've told people for years they can NOT take away all your guns.. they'll tax the ammo. It WILL be the new sin tax of this generation. They'll start at .03-.05 per bullet and each year the crime rises they'll increase the tax. I think the states will start it and then of course the feds will get in on it.. I think hunting licenses will increase as well (more poaching then) on state and federal level too. Soon everything will be out of reach of the common people or as the dems like to call them.. 'middle class'.. It's definitely coming and we aren't going to like it.

You guys are out of your minds because you are thinking "cents per round." That won't stop shooters any more than I quit drinking beer because the price goes up a bit.
What happened when Obama Care went to the Supreme Court? What was the ruling that let it get to where it is now?
There are NO limits to taxation imposed by Congress. Ten dollars a round would "go far for the children.........."

Marc, We are talking the same thing here, that is why I put out an example graduating scale. "Take a look at what the Fed and many states have done to cigarette and alcohol taxes."That's why I made that statement as well. Taxes didn't stop people from drinking beer or smoking. You guys are out of your minds because you are thinking "cents per round." That won't stop shooters any more than I quit drinking beer because the price goes up a bit. Sorry - didn't mean to make it sound like a challenge or disagreement. We are indeed on the same page. You are absolutely on target at just how much tax revenue would be generated - the numbers are staggering as you pointed out.
But the extreme anti-gun crowd is likely to leap right over the revenue argument and go for the immediate kill with a tax so high that very few people could have a serious stock of ammo or reloading supplies.
I was just expressing my concern that these loons could/would go really, really extreme on a tax to effectively shut down the industry as we know it. Yes, you also clearly said that!
Marc
Edit to add: In thinking about it, they just may milk it to death slowly to squeeze every penny out of it before killing it.

i think the fienstein gun ban legislation was just a big old smokescreen, a dog and pony show to distract you from the un gun issue and the demand of background checks on every gun sale private or commercial
