We have generators and vehicles set up to run off propane if needed. Is anyone else using this alternative in their long term plan? Should we be using it now and not just planning to use it in a SHTF situation when conventional fuels are not available? I have stores of propane I don't use, it doesn't go bad like other fuels and it is easy to store and acquire (with enough money), is this a worthy option? www.nbcnews.com/business/propane-its-not-just-barbecues-anymore-1C8736230

Two 250 gallon tanks can't be wrong. I had them installed before I did anything at my new place.

On my list for pre-hurricane season this year is a converstion kit to allow my portable gennie to run on either propane, nat gas, or gasoline. I asked around last year and didn't get a lot of responses, but i'm going to try it anyway. Attached is the link... www.propane-generators.com/

This is the site I used to buy the kits I have on generators the Type C kits. Work well. Price was less when I got them, but everything is up.

Here is the site we bought the conversion kits for Diesel to propane conversion. We have a 4 cyl and a 8 cyl setup. What we did was convert the engine on a 4 cyl 4wd Bronco, it runs great, not sure about the mileage yet, we just did the conversion this summer, I will get my son to figure it. Earlier we converted a 6.6 GMC engine in a 97 one ton, then took the engine out and put it into storage and put a rebuilt diesel back in. With diesel prices the way the are we may switch them back but at the time we were going to put the rebuilt engine in anyway. Nothing was wrong with the 97 engine, but I like to put new guts in older vehicles so they are dependable but don't look like anything worth stealing. www.dudadiesel.com/propane.php
