I think wtrfwlr sees these when he looks at the clouds. ;D This is true but as we all know clouds constantly change. They change for me too. In Sept. they look like Doves and Squirrels, in Oct and Nov. they appear as huge antlered Bucks, around Dec. and Jan. they look just like flocks of Ducks and Geese, then Feb. and March come and they look like big slab Crappie, April rolls around and they resemble long bearded Turkey's, the weather starts to get hot in June through August and those same clouds looks just like monster Catfish hanging on trotlines and before I know it, it's Sept. again and the Squirrels are barking and the Doves are buzzing by in the clouds again! ;D *cue the music....."Ahhhhhh, it's a wonderful world"........

[music cued -- with a lyric correction: "What a wonderful world!"]
Ah... the freedom of not having to adhere to a school year's schedule...
OK, I guess I'm going to have to do something about a hunting license after all [she says as she yanks back her arm after finding it mysteriously twisted around her back] ;D . Now I've got to look up the rules & regs, not to mention the allowable locations...

Great story and a Super Gobbler no less! That would certainly have you hooked for life! I was hooked from the start too. Yeah, that was my first, and best one to date. Maybe next week will change that! Got my new (to me) Browning Gold Hunter and went friday to the Palmetto Sportsman Classic and got myself a turkey choke for it. Gotta get my camping gear ready to go in the truck and it's on!!!

Yep, exactly! See when a bird does that to ya, you gotta change your tactic and try and move around him so that you're in the hedges so as not to be blastin those folks front door with a load of 3 1/2" # 5 duplex Turkey loads! With me as your guide I'll show you how to overcome these sorts of things! ;D

Well then... I might as well go home. Those guys are called CT pedestrians in our family. With the geese at the local mall, the turkeys on the lawns, and the deer in the park, all they need to do is change the hunting laws a little so I can have some fun. ;D

Going home on leave for two weeks to chase them birds. Nothin like a ground shaking gobble and a horny Tom to get the blood flowing. Been fortunate to kill a bunch of good birds over the years. My first spring gobbler (1994) is still my best one at 27 lbs with a 10.5 inch beard. Been after them ever since! Ill post pics if I get one.

Hadn't seen this thread.....but the fact Wtrfwir, ya got it BAD.....LOL. Loading up to head out to "The Place", for next Wedesday's opening in my zone. Where I hunt is about 1/2 mile from the cabin, but pretty much straight up the ridge, but i drive up and around. Last year we were done by 7:30 first day, partner 7:15...and mine came by at 7:30, both 21-22 pounds 10 in beard....I don't need the biggest bird, just a dumb one that thinks I sound sexy. I love calling them in from a long way away...although I had a hen in a tree just about 20 yds away, that called in a gobbler for me, and if I hadn't watch her calling, I would have sworn it was a noobie at the turkey store fooling round with calls. Find the decoy....snow was gone by 8;00am Can't see you....LOL
