Native American Fish Trap

Has anybody tried this ? OT, maybe you can make this one of your projects this summer

Orly, Les Stroud built one of those in the Season 1, Episode 4 filming of Survivor Man while in the Georgia swamps. He actually did catch something but if you want to find out what it was you'll have to watch it. There are two parts to the episode. ;D

BTW, I believe you can't go wrong watching any reruns of Survivor Man.

Always wanted to try this. I used a 2liter bottle to catch minnows before...that is until I caught two snakes in the same day. That was the end of my minnow catchers.

Thanks for the link sweet cajunmama ;D I watched the whole episode. He caught a turtle in the trap and ate it. He also had a big problem with mosquitos, and the cold weather at night....good show

Thanks for sharing that story and making me laugh. I will try something similar when I go down to the florida keys...lets see how it works out

You're welcome Orly, I like rewatching Les' program videos because he just knows so much and teaches it to his viewers.

Ah, the Keys, had the opportunity to visit there once and I'm glad I was able to do so. The place we went to was very impressive with ponds of natural crystal clear water. Sealife was abundant and if I were equiped I could've caught fish and other sealife with a dipping net. I

It would be a great place to build a trap and interesting to see if the bait attracts anything into it.

Thanks for posting this and I will try this come summer. Wish I was 20 years younger, so much to learn and so little time left Placement of this fishtrap is very important plus it's best to use some kind of stink bait to bring whatever to the trap.
