OK I have this problem with my bags....BAGS not sack!
It seems I have more bags than stuff to put in them. I want to keep them all fairly standard but man some of that stuff is pretty darn expensive!
In prior posts I mentioned I layer my systems but I have been leaning toward having a couple complete units and just do not have the items to complete them. So other than buying multiples of items I have, should I substitute some for less expensive versions like multi-tools or some such item?
They all have fire, snare/trap, water, food, shelter and first aid items but I cannot afford to buy 4 more camp axes of any quality worth having, or many more Crashblades for that matter. I will likely go with Mora for the knives but I want at least one full tang rough use knife in each pack in addition to the Mora. Paracord is covered pretty easily, but not ponchos and mylar blankets. bah I am rambling now. its late. so just ignore the last part and focus on the original inquiry

As long as your covered on the primary BOB's, the rest should be filled out as time and money permits. I would not sacrifice quality, for quantity.

I started with one bag and when I thought I had it right. I tried it out and added or took away items as needed. I now have 2 bags with exact same items (one for me and one for hubby) as BOB's at home and 2 in the car with extra food and water stored in the car. There is also a kid BOB in each place with food and water that she would be able to open and items she can use. She also made her own first aid kit. Might sound like overkill but I figure if we get seperated for whatever reason we will each have what we need. I put the bags together and hubby knows how to use all items. I started out slow and finally got it together. It can get expensive if you try to do it all at one time.

bobs can be an addiction too I have found. I had to be very active in building only one bag. Well 1.5. My "get home bag" is stand alone but is also part of my BOB. The GHB is will me or in my vehicle always and in the even of a bug out it, it straps to back of my BOB, and is an integral part of it.
When it comes down to it, you personally can only take one bag on your person. I try not to have too many bags. When the time comes I don't what to have to make choices.
