I hope that it's not just wishful thinking, but maybe...just maybe, some of the dust is starting to settle. Well, at least with normal firearms purchasers.
I went to Cabelas last week and on two different trips, I saw AR's on the rack. i went to a local firearms store and saw one there too.
Tonight, I'm browsing the local firearms classified and I see a little despiration on the part of some sellers trying to offload 'tactical weapons'. The postings marked 'sold' are mostly revolvers and concealed carry weapons. The postings with 'reduced prices' are mostly either AR, AK, or even defense shotguns.
Now, if we could only find some ammo for ANY weapon, we may be back to the "new" normal.

I was in a pawn shop last week and noticed about 8 new AR 15 on the wall plus alot of accessarys. Just expensive clubs without ammo. Gun shops still gouging on ammo. Within 1 week .40 cal target load went from $20.00- $32.00 I wouldn't buy it, I went 5 miles up the road to WalMart and found box for $19.00. I will remember who took advantage and who did not and those who did not will continue to get my $

I saw it awhile back that there are soon to be alot of the panic buyers who are now stuck with ARs they bought at 2.5x thier actual worth who didnt get it sold before the bubble and will be needing to off set the credit card balance. Ammo will come back to reason soon enough. JMO

Stopped by Walmart this morning and saw ammo that I haven't seen in a long time:
Lots and lots of .270, .30-06, 7mm mag, 300 swm A decent amount of .30-30, .44 mag. .357 mag, 12ga bird shot A small amount of .223 and 12ga 00 No .40, 9mm, 38 special, 22 lr, 12ga slugs
The .223 is in bulk packs of (100) Federal 55gr fmj for $0.35 per rnd. Nice to see some ammo showing up at close to the old prices. Walmart still has the 3 box/day limit, but that's 300 rounds for an AR15 - everyday....... (My neighbor's chrono showed right at 3,000 from a 16" barrel)
I don't need to stock ammo because I sold all of my guns except for an old double barrel shotgun and a .22. I know that the Government will take care of us, but I sense that some of you folks still own guns that will need to be fed ammo. I don't recommend buying at scalper prices, but as the supplies catch up - you may want to pick up one or two cartridges for your guns.
At the risk of being grossly repetitive, inflation alone will soon double the cost of ammo. Triple and quadruple will be close behind. Now add potential new taxes, possible future restrictions, various levels of mayhem - and you will recognize very good reasons for the American public to buy record breaking (astounding) amounts of ammo. At least for those who still own guns.
