www.cobrapistols.net/product-standard-derringers.asprecently bought a small .22lr for carrying when a larger gun not appropriate. Also figured in a SHTF senaio more .22 ammo would be availble than any other +easy ammo to carry. I load 1 barrel with bird shot the other with round nose. America made, lifetime warranty, nice safety system plus only $169.95

You should try a few rounds of the mini shot. I have never been very fond of it. In a rifle I could not make a cottonmouth even pissed off at 10'. In that short barrel it will be pretty weak.
I had one for a long time, but was an old style with not a good safety like yours probably has. I kept two Stingers in it. Pretty good gut gun at say 5'. Makes me want another one now...lol
Make sure to try it out a few times. Tell us how it does. I think you did good.

For an "overall front pocket" piece, close and last resort.....fits the bill....Cool little piece.
Try out the bird shot before you carry any in it....not so good in my experiance.

I have the same in 9MM, makes a good "get off me" backup. Trigger is terrible but works for what it is. I agree with the bird shot being worth less.
In my opinion, If you're going to shoot then you must have a reason. I'd carry two yellow jacket hollow points in it.

Fired the bird shot at 3' went fairly deep in the log, most likely will carry hollowpoints.

I scored a 357 American Derringer in a lot buy awhile back. The hard trigger pull is what makes it inaccurate IMO. Dangerous with it at around 20'. After that, it's a gamble. Congrats on you buy.

Had one in .357, got it in a trade....gave it to DD as I had the same problem with the trigger. She said she liked it, so.... Making do with a NAA Mini revolver in 22 mag.

Could u shoot .22lr from a .22mag derringer? No, not normally. Can be done, but not recomended, different size case. I would never do it unless it was all i had, and something needed to get shot.
