Ok--heads up everybody...If you have critters and will be going to the vet just expect meds to be higher. I went to get meds for my dog yesterday and they told me they will be going up---probably alot. He told me a medicine that they used to get for $35 a bottle is now going to be $500 a bottle. Because of obamacare... they deemed the medicine more important for humans and not animals. So yall get ready.

I want to hear more about this too. Does this apply to flea/tick preventatives?

If I remember right all vet prices were going up because medical equipment is going to be taxed or something like that. I can't imagine that kind of a leap in price for a medication. Who could afford to keep a pet? I buy human grade insulin for my cat.

It's been a while since we had a diabetic cat, but we too bought human-grade insulin for him.

Who could afford to keep a pet? I buy human grade insulin for my cat. I read somewhere too about medical equiptment being taxed. I do not think flea/tick preventatives are included because they are not for human use, but not sure they might find a way to include that. The one he quoted was an antibiotic I think Doxicycline (sp?) What I was getting yesterday was seizure meds. Any med that can be for human use will go way up in price. My vet was not happy at all. I could tell he was getting pissed just talking about it. I would suggest calling your individual vet. and ask. I only have to take my dog 2 times a year so this would've been a big shock the next time I went so this would have been a big shock. What I normally get is a 6 month supply for around $60, so who knows what it will be next time. But I am going to get what I can before the price goes up. I'm just glad he warned me.

I think we discussed this on the other board shortly after the bill passed. Now we are experiencing it first hand

Just got back from the vet and pretty much all the news is bad the meds have doubled. The meds I usually get for $32 were now $64. On top of the seizures she has she is in the first stages of congestive heart failure, has cataracts, losing her hearing She will be 14 this year. It has been a while since I have had one live this long do have to deal with these kinds of ailments. He did say that she wouldn't have been here this long if I hadn't taken such good care of her. Which is a real switch because he is not known for his bedside manner.

I have not thought of that. If I ever have to go thru this with another one this will be an option. Thanks CGU

Sad we didn't do it one piece at a time and make it actually a viable plan instead of this crap they shoved down our throats. No intelligent discussion and they passed an empty folder and then wrote the rules once they passed it. They passed it without any republican votes, they should try and fund it without any republican votes.

It's a republican plan. It worked for Romney in Massachusetts.

It's a republican plan. It worked for Romney in Massachusetts. There is a reason that I have been in several meetings about the largest healthcare system in missouri/illinois drastically reducing costs. They are citing the economy as the reason along with elective surgeries being down and admits through the ED being down. I guess they thought if they would tell us one story and then post the results in obscure areas around the hospital no one would look at it. In fact with 4 months left in the calendar year we are roughly 5% away from not just duplicating what we have in the year prior but hittng the targeted goals in each area in which they are looking. Only leaves a few options, and after having candid conversations with several of the Doc's, the main issue is obamacare. They are predicting within ten years to be making roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of what they are currently making with roughly doubling their work load in the same period. Med school is not looking like a really good path athe moment. Even with the Army picking up the tab, why essential leave my family for the next 10-16 years to follow a path that people now feel is their right? Hope everyone knows some really good medical folks. Me and mine are looking at the private family coincierge(sp) type doctor that will control all aspects of our health and medical area's and has the same mindset as my own. socialized healthcare i the beginning of the end and once in place will not be capable of being removed.

It is NOT socialized health care it is insurance reform. I will ask this one question - have you bothered to read the legislation ?
