I've been thinking about this since last week. If I were faced with a similar scenario to the Boston bombing, what would I do? Assume that you live in an urban area, but you have your preps to ride out a local or regional SHTF event. You have the means to leave with some, but not all of you preps and obviously you have the immediate supplies in a BOB ready to go.
It seems like the event could be broken down into two parts. The first was Monday, the actual day of the bombing. The bombs go off in your urban area. It seems like a very local happening but you're not sure how large of an issue it really is. Could there be more unexploded devices? Are you near a potential target? For this part based on the actual event, I think I would be more likely to hunker down.
The second part was on Thursday night when there was a "running car chase" with explosives and weapons. By this time, its more obvious that this is a local event. The authorities were going door to door looking for suspects. They ask everyone to remain inside, but it is not mandatory (or so it seemed on the news coverage) or declared marshal law. It is not clear how long this might last. I'm less sure about what I would do in this part. My first instict was to bug out just to get out of the chaos. The more I think about it, the less convinced I am about that.
What would you do and why?

In that whole situation, with my preps on hand , I'm hunkered in my environment with my preps and my 'safety measures' in hand

I sure that a loaded BOB pack and a PDW, M4 or any firearm would get you shot or arrested.... Not the time to be running around.......Petty much a no brainer, stay put.

Even from day one I believe all routes leading out of Boston were more than likely roadblocked to search for suspects. Trying to exit the city with BOB's and other preps, especially firearms and ammo would only heighten the probability of being detained by Law Enforcement. So, hunker down in your residence and keep your eyes glued to the t.v. and hope for the best. If during the next few hours you hear news of added bombings in other locations of the city, then under the guise of night I'd try bugging out on foot to a nearby wooded area.

Agreed...I wouldn't go anywhere if I didn't have to, and I would stay under the radar as much as possible. Walking or driving around with a backpack would only lead to trouble.
