While I am a ham radio operator, I don't always have access to my radio equipment or access to emergency services communications frequencies. I came across a useful application for the iphone that allows me to listen into real-time emergency services communications at many locations across the country. I've been able to hear what is going on at local fires, determine why the ambulance is at my neighbor's house, and hear a lot of other useful information using this application.
PM me if you are interested in seeing what kind of coverage this application has at your location. I can search the feeds by state. It even has lots of international feeds as well.
