Found this a little bit earlier. Looks like it could be promising if they're allowed to go forth with producing and improving the present prototype. Obviously they haven't figured out how to get rid of other impurities to make the water truly drinkable using the same device, but still. New invention could make ocean water "drinkable"

That's pretty cool. I'll be interested to see how far it goes. I'm currently working on a project with some folks to produce a distillation machine to clean the water from fracking. It takes a lot more energy that that thing though.

great, not only is out 4 billion dollar white elephant de-sal plant over priced and will never actually pump water (it has been in standby mode since completion at the cost of 1.8 million a day) but the cost to de-sal water just plummeted, way to go victorian government
