"I say this as I would never trade an item I felt would fail the person I traded with. That's bad business, and especially in a post SHTF scenario." - CWI I would disagree a little bit here. If I traded it for something it would be a fair and equal value trade. I might not get a great item in return for a not so great knife. I'll tell him the knife has its limitations and to take care of it. After that it's on him to maintain it and know it's limitations. Buyer beware kind of thing... cause I could trade him a Glock for something that works perfectly for something of equal value and if he misuses that Glock and it blows up on him, then that isn't my doing. Same thing.. fair disclosure on the knife and if he makes the trade then we're good. IMO Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you. My post was not in light of 'normal circumstances'. If you trade someone in a post SHTF environment without the force of law being in effect (no cops/feds etc), and that person made a bad trade (even with full disclosure), who that person is connected with becomes an issue for you. Some people lose all sense of right and wrong, and in some cases, humanity. MS-13 would be a good example (S. American branches). If you think they are going to consider it 'fair', you would be sadly mistaken. It won't matter if the deal was fair, it will be how those gang members perceive it, with zero thought for 'fair'. This is something people need to think about.
