Read a review on the Kenmore model# 95693 3.1 cu.ft refrigerator. High efficiency.

I did a Sears search and that model apparently doesn't exist... at least not for me.

Yes, I saw only the 83. Your 93 was a recent purchase, right? That number wasn't listed at all when I did a search on the Sears site under Kenmore.

Seems the vid was posted July 10, '13 on YouTube. So yes, rather recent. I haven't purchased one just saw the vid.

Ack! I flunked the test. That line of text above the video didn't fully sink in, so I thought that the video and the icebox were yours. Oops! When I saw it, my first action was to copy and paste the brand and number into Sears' search.

I didn't think it was his.. yet.. but I did think it was a solar refrigerator until I got to where I could play the video and found out it was 'powered' by solar.. 30 watts I believe.. I have 3 15 watt panels I can hook together and that should be enough to power it.. yes?

Like you, I also thought the thing was directly solar-powered, not via separate panels. I've got to stop reading when I'm tired... the brain fills all sorts of gaps that don't even exist.

You'd have to have a couple batteries, a charge controller, and an inverter since it runs on AC not DC. I think 3 15 watt panels would really struggle to keep a couple batteries charged. Wouldn't go with less than 100 watt PV panel and pray for sunny days.

Thanks Geron These guys make a unit that will run without batteries - but I wouldn't go that way for the obvious reasons. (Sometimes the sun doesn't shine, but I like cold beer!) They have upright and chest style refrigerators and freezers. None are large, all are expensive but that's the nature of the beast. I sell these folks batteries now and then when they are forced to bundle batteries in a large contract. Their product is extremely low power consumption and well known for reliability. SundanzerStudy this closely for their PV panel and battery sizing suggestions. Sundanzer PV SizingI can't count how many of my customers have bought a battery or two to support one of these - then come back for more because they added a refrigerator or another freezer. Start here to learn more about how a system goes together. They sell parts and complete engineered systems. They have great information and explanations. Wholesale Solar
