Well, I moved up from .380 to 9mm. Honestly, I feel better with the 9 in my pocket and it's only slightly larger than the .380. I wear Tru-Specs 24-7 so no one ever knows it's there.
I had always tried to keep everything the same caliber but got to thinking. What if I found a cache of 9's and didn't have anything to shoot them in. Got me a 9.

With a 9mm shotgun adapter you can shoot 9mm out of your shotgun. They come in most common calibers and even come in 12" rifled, which increases the velocity of your pistol rounds over a 4" barrel + the added length increase the accuracy of the shot for most people.
I don't shoot .223, but I figure there would be a good chance I would find some in a SHTF situation, so I have an adapter for my 12 gauge that will shoot them. I also have Rossi rifle barrels in all of the popular calibers, all fitting the same stock and fore end and all having the same platform for consistency. Yes they are single shot, but each barrel gives me additional capability, for considerable less cost than an additional rifle or handgun.
Off track! Just saying!
How do you find the accuracy difference? What about the weight difference when carrying?
By my own rules, everyone in our group carries a 9mm Beretta, so we all have exactly the same platform. Anyone of them or our kids can pick one of them up and have no problem with how to work it. Any of the magazines will fit them all, as will any of the ammo. Everyone puts in practice time with the 9mm. It was just a standardization thing, I felt strongly about.
I carried a Colt 1911 in one model or another for 30+ years and I hated giving it up for an M9, but I think it was the right thing to do.
I mostly wear the Tru-Specs 24-7 as well. I like the multi pockets and they fit well and feel good. I mostly wear the black, so picking out my clothes for the day is pretty easy. I will wear just a white tee shirt with the black pants when working in the garden or something, but I open carry around the house anyway.
Another thing I just thought of. When I am in a vehicle I remove my carry weapon from my inside the pants holster and place it partially under my right leg. I doubt if I could pull the weapon quickly if I had a situation while sitting in the car with the seat belt fastened. This is a habit I have had for 40+ years, even when I was a LEO I did not drive/ride with my weapon holstered. Yes I must re holster when I get out of the vehicle, but I find the door works fine to block 90% of anyone who might see me and even when I have been seen, I have never had anyone say anything. Plus when I am going somewhere where I can not carry this allows/reminds me to put the weapon in to the truck box or trunk. Plus if I am at a school or federal building I will be on tape putting my weapon into my trunk, making it very clear I am obeying the requirements. I have a lock box bolted to the body of the car or side of the truck box. Actually when I drive thru a couple of States my license requires that the weapon be visible and not in a holster.
Does anyone else do this?
