About 3 weeks ago I purchased a new pair of binoculars. I have several of the small 10x types, but my old pair of 7x35s that I've had for years gave up the ghost, (starting fogging badly). I've tried some of the Cheaper 10x50s, 8x40s and just never was happy with them. I got them at Academy Sports. $109.95. Soooo, I got me a pair of Leopold Yosemite 8x30s. And they ARE the cat's meow.... Very sharp and clear. Nice neck strap. Covers for both ends. Very light weight. Only had for 3 or 4 weeks, but I feel like they are going to give me good service and a long service life. Leupold still American made? I always felt they are a good bang for the buck Nope. China made. But I didn't have $400 for a pair of Zeiss or others.....  Time will tell.... Jimmy |

Made in China? Thats a bummer to hear. I always liked Leupold for being US made. I hear ya though about optics being soooo expensive! For a good Leica, Swarovsky, or Ziess you have to take out a second mortgage. They are way out of my price range thats for sure.

I have a pair of Swarovsky in 10x50, the optics are so superior but the price is ridiculous. If I am looking at something 500 yards out its nice to have them, but I carry 8x21 hand sized around with me and never really needed anything bigger hunting animals.
My opinion, put the best optics you can afford on your primary weapon and do what you can for extra.

Jimmy, not trying to dump on you or anything brother, but I was surfing around and apparently there are a bunch of Leupold knockoffs comming out of China. I posted a link from their website warning about it. It specifically mentions some of their scopes so I dont know if it applies to binocs but it might. I just hope you didn't get sold some counterfit. This will definately make me look harder at Leupold to make sure Im getting the real deal. www.leupold.com/resources/counterfeit-warning/ |

If academy sold you counterfeit I'd be standing on someone's countertop with a letter in my hand written to the state attorney general for lots of reasons telling them you're about to create a hell storm if they don't do what you want them to. On the other hand if you like them and they work well.. what the hey..

Well it appears they are only having issues with one of their rifle scopes. I called and talked with them and they said all was ok with binocs and the rest of their optics....whew...
