I have to tell you all about how happy I am with the Ruger Gunsite Scout Carbine. I purchased one over the summer and me and the boys have been putting it through the paces. The Stainless version has a 18" barrel compared to the Blued version 16".

My GSR will shoot 1/2-3/4" Groups with just about anything at 100 yards. Velocity is not far off from a 24" barreled 308. One of the great handloads that I have worked up for this rifle is....

Federal Match Brass
44 grains of Varget
175 Sierra Match King
Federal Match Primer.

Same load with the 165 HP Game King shoots just as well.



Here is some 200 yard shooting with the GSR. The square target has 3 shots in the black spot.



I put on a Storage Pouch on the stock that I got from Ruger. It's a great accessory...


Ruger Sells a nice multi-tool that I keep with the rifle.. It's called the Ruger® Avid Gun Tool. All of the tools you would need for all Ruger Firearms.



They are a quick and handy rifle and if you are on the fence about buying one, Don't hesitate. They are good to go.

Tell us about the scope. Brand, objective lenses size, power or did it come with the rifle. I assume it's a long eye relief. Oh and how much does it weigh?

Thanks Jimmy, I sure do like it.

The scope is a Burris Handgun Scope 2-7x 32mm Ballistic Plex Reticle - Matte. I used Leupold MEDIUM QRW rings, and the Scout Base came with the rifle. It is a long eye relief scope, but Ruger includes rings that you can use. If you remove the rear sight, you can mount a standard eye relief scope on the rifle.

With all the crap hanging all over the rifle, it goes about 9 pounds ESPECIALLY with a 10 Round mag loaded. Ruger has 5 and 3 round mags also that are available. If you just use the rifle and smaller mag, the weight is down to about 7.

Here's how the reticle works...

This is my exact sight settings from a Mobile APP called STRELOK for Iphone/Smart phones and works like a charm.

My GSR is sighted in dead on at 200 yards, you range your target, look at the correct hold over mark and that bullet will land right on the money. It's called the Burris Ballistic Plex Reticle.
