Had a real treat last night my son in law and 3 boys, 12, 10, 6 yrs old we started teaching the boys how to shoot a 410 and a .22 used a Rossi single shot with switchable barrels. They all did great. Been blessed this year got to teach 4 grandsons so far. Nice to be in a rural setting with gun friendly folks that accept firearms as common as toilet paper, around here your odd if you don't shoot.
Looks like a few of them will be going deer hunting with me this year, let the tradition roll on. Had to laugh to myself last night as the younger one was just as excited over getting to keep all the empty shell casings, brought back memories of me and my dad at that age. Guess one of the perks as I get older and they get older I'll have young'uns to haul my deer out of the woods.

That's awesome, and like you say, it's REALLY nice having the youngins dragging your deer!

Well done graf, you have taught them a great skill and it's obvious you're the proud grandpa for having done so. I can see new hunting partners on the horizon.

Good for you! I love the look on my Grandkids faces when they get the hang of it, and start spinning the targets. Make sure they don't go to visit our Nation's Capitol with their empties......... I didn't believe this when I first heard it: Jail time for empty casingsMarc

It is a blessing getting to teach and pass on our love of the woods and firearms to another generation, when so few are interested. Seeing them utilize what we have taught them and actually bring in the deer, or bacon, is a special feeling like nothing else. My grandson brought his best friend out and asked me to take them to the bow shop so the friend could get a new bow. I did, and started another lad into the fold. We will all be out this weekend. Enjoy them while you have them.

My daughter called me and has been asking questions about hunting guns, she just bought her first license at age of 34 yrs., guess having 3 boys living near woods has finally brought her back to her roots. She turned yuppy on me for a few years something a country girl should never do.
