This is a really good video showing the dangers of group think. In the video an SUV is surrounded by bikes traveling down a multi lane road, some of the bike are riding dangerously close to the truck. At one point a bike in front of the truck breaks quickly and the truck bumps it. Things escalate from there. After watching the video a few times I am convinced that bike who slowed did this on purpose. Every one comes to a stop and surrounds the SUV. You can really see what took place at this point but the SUV suddenly plows through. I'm sure he was scared, there were probably words. Watch it for your self. Could make for good discussion. thelibertarianrepublic.com/video-suv-crushes-pack-bikers-nyc-bikers-smash-windows/#.Ukmnsd_D-71

The video doesn't show enough detail to make a comment. Need to see what and how it started from the very beginning.

As an MC rider I will say I do not like riding with a group of unknowns due to what I call herd mentality. The whole group shifting a little right or left, or someone passing and the entire group trying to pass at the same time. If I ride in a rally or run, I want to be either in the front or the back of the group.
The people I ride with most of the time have a sense of expectation of the other riders, we know what another can be expected to do in a situation. Still, accidents happen. My son just finished re-building his bike after a wreck caused when he and another rider were to close and both looked at something to the side and drifted into each other. Both bike damaged and the other guy broke an ankle.
Another example I don't like to be too bunched up, we were riding one day last summer and on the blacktop, on a curve with a slight slope, sand had washed onto the road. One bike goes down and everyone hits everyone else. My sons bike was totaled and his rider broke an ankle that time.

Here is a video that shows the start and goes to the widow smash. usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/09/30/20759574-caught-on-video-father-with-family-in-suv-chased-beaten-by-speed-demon-bikers?liteI don't really consider what I saw as real MC's then I ride the biggest Harley they make, this are little street bikes. The first rider I see getting hit did it to himself. Then the driver running over some bikes I don't know we couldn't see what scared him, but obviously he was. All I can saw is if I had hit the first biker I would have stopped but if they wanted to gang up on me because of it I would have drove over them as well. That many bikers ganging up on me in a car with my family may work in NY but don't try it here in the south. The difference is I would have hit as many more as I could once they started to gang up on the car with my family in it. Any anyone coming up to my car like that better be ready to get shot, I might go down but it will be in a pile of brass.

No MC anymore but Woody is correct. The one time I rode in a group I was near front and was uncomfortable the whole time. At the turn around point I waited till everyone was gone before I pulled out. One mile later two got to close. One had broken leg, the other broken neck and later died. Never again after that

See how the group though absorbs the rage of the few? This is what I'm getting at. One moment you have bunch of people in one place, some smashes some thing and it spreads instantly through the group. Dangerous stuff.

My son has a group, club gang, whatever. I like to ride with them, they let the old guy come along. Its funny how they position themselves so they "protect" me from traffic or what ever, but its the same on the ground, the few times I went to "their" bar, they keep a loose circle around my wife and I as if they were protecting us. And I guess they do, although I have never even heard of any problems there, probably a good reason for that.

Saw this with more detail overall elsewhere but the whole story definitely wasn't told then either. Fully agree with the group mentality of it all. Other than being on wheels it's not that different from a mob marching down the street toward their objective.
IMHO the bikers brought that whole thing on themselves including the guy who seemingly slowed down on purpose. If there's evidence suggesting otherwise my ears and eyes are open.

Dont think they are charging the SUV driver. As of now they are calling it self defense. Looks to me like the bikers were trying to dominate the street and threatened the guy and his family in the SUV.

It appears there was at least one undercover cop in the bike crew but he didn't want to blow his cover. (he wasn't investigating the bikers)

I rode bikes mainly Harleys over 30 years, with groups and solo, many close calls, but if I were the driver of the SUV with my family inside I would not have stopped either, ego bad ass attitude has gotten many killed. Chasing a SUV with a motorcycle is like taking a knife to a gun fight, you can't fix stupid!
