For those of you who use a neck knife you will understand this thread all too well . As Yoda would say " once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny ... Consume you it will Well, I lost an old friend last week and it's been a depressing 8 days indeed. Somehow my Kabar Remora came loose from its home around my neck and I've been I'm morning ever since . It's like leaving the house without your watch , cell phone, mutitool or ccw. You feel lost... I got it to try for awhile and became dependent on it on a daily bases. I used it at work, fishing camping etc. it became my GO-to knife and SOOO convenient at my neck. I tried doing without it but can't Today I remideed this . Went to gun show and found her replacement. A CRKT Minimalist! So far I realllyyyy like it great ergonomics, good blade design ( I got the Bowie version) and sharp out of the box! Got the cut to prove it:) Replaced the lanyard with my custom one from the Remora and shortened it up some as the CRKT is slightly longer than the Kabar was. Kydex sheath is far superior to the kabars and lockup is tight. If it come out somebody had to mean for it too. As far as a rating 1 to 5 stars , I'm gonna go with 3. 1/2 for now. After I have a chance to put it thru its paces I will update my opinion

Same weight but quite a bit bigger, especially the width.
I predict you will miss the Becker edge, but like the CRKT ergonomics enough to put up with needing to work the edge a little once in a while.

Yeah , I agree with that. The Kabar was always a razor even after a week at work. But heck, I find sharpening my knives therapeutic anyway . So far I do Gide the ergonomics superior but ask me that after using it a week at work:)

Like "BOL" on Lonesome Dove said, "A good knife is like a good woman, they need to be stroked once in a while."

Ok , I've used the CRKT for a good week now and I really like it . I've used it for cutting rope, shrink wrap, boxes , para cord , nylon straps etc , and it has performed well. I do still miss the Kabar Remora but this is a good knife and I am satisfied . PRO's: great handling Razor sharp Easy to sharpen Superior kydex sheath w/ great retention Small enough to not notice but big enough to do The job CON's: doesn't hold and edge as well as the Kabar A little smaller cutting edge than the Kabar Haven't decided yet on the micarta handle vs all Steel with Kabar That's how I see it so far.
