Red Feather canned cheese and butter taste better. However, bega isn't bad either, especially for the sale price listed in that link. We have both, and break out a can once in a while to keep the stock rotating. As for shelf life, We've had some for over ten years now. No notable degradation.

After some shopping around, I find they have several items on a good sale. Time to top off the stock. Thanks for the link.

would have to agree with cwi on this, the redfeather brand tastes better but the bega chese was ok, i found it better to cook with than to eat straight from the can

Thanks for the feedback and just got 10 cans shipped. It'll go into the stockpile.

Just noticed this thread. Coincidentally, I just opened a can earlier today since we didn't have any other cheese for a sandwich. It's definitely a processed cheese taste, but it slices well and tastes good. Open both the top and bottom of the can and then push the cheese out in one block. Ours are probably 7-8 years old at this point. I would have no qualms about eating them another 7-8 years from now. No real difference in taste or texture from when we first purchased them.
