As much as I like my 10/22 the sights suck, so I upgraded to front orange fiber optic and rear peep sight. Had an opportunity today to go to the range and sight it in. Freakin nice, couple adjustments and its consistent and so much easier to see that front sight in dim light.

You can't go wrong with a 10/22.

I wish my eyes were still good enough for the iron sights on my 10/22. I've had a 3x9x40 on it for years. I have been considering something else for it. Maybe a electronic type sight. Haven't decided yet. Glad your happy with yours now.

I planned to go that route on other rifles. BUT gradually I've found that like Jimmy, my eyes just don't perform like they used to. Now, even a 10/22 and an AR are wearing scopes these days. I also find myself automatically grabbing the scoped guns to shoot because they are easier for me. I miss being being comfortable without a scope! Marc

Ok now I feel like I am gonna make you all shake your head with my question but I have this same rifle and I had no clue you could change the sights or even how to adjust them. How would I go about doing this? Heck I am still learning how to clean it. (not as easy to clean as the pistol)

They just have little screws holding them on. You can, if you want to, get a gun screwdriver kit for only a couple bucks that will help but is not necessary. All you have to do is take the old sights off and srew new ones on. The 10/22 itself can be modified with an endless array of aftermarket parts - inside and out and most all of them are "drop ins"

Reed dots are nice. I am using 3 one on my 22 pistol one on a marlin 795 and one on my AR. With red dots you can shoot with both eyes open

My eyesight is failing me as well. I use a peep with green glass tube on front on my 870's and it works great. .308 has a 6x20 with the scope raised and a flip up peep and red glass tube in front, so I can use open sights under the scope. AR and AK get a hybrid holographic sight with a quick release roll over 3x magnifier www.sportoptics.com/eotech-hybrid-sight-HHSII.aspx So I have a 1x or 3x AR's I have complete uppers with optics all ready mounted, I just pull 2 pins and change it with 98% no re-sighting required. (I do but I have not had to change any adjustments 98% of the time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qvql1tQ6bBwWorks for me.
