3.5 is oly really good for goose and maybe turkeys IMO. Kuts, have u tried to cycle the Federal Reduced Recoil slug/00 rounds? I shot some thru my 870 and they are a real pleasure compared to full on loads. I haven't but certainly will. Felt like I was shoulder firing a dang howitzer with some of them.

Artillery!! King of Battle!! Although I've never seen a shoulder fired howitzer. You must be referring to those shoulder fired toys belonging to the Queen of Battle... The Infantry!

Im personally not a huge Benelli fan but, I take nothing away from the either. Ive had friends whovall had the Super Black Eagle 12ga 3.5 and all of them failed in the field at some point whilst my Browning BPS kept chugging. The Supernova is of course a pump and my friends that have those did like the reliability. It just didnt "fit" me is all. Im also not keen on pistol grips or any sights other than a bead in my shotties. Thats just me though YMMV. I think you did good for 4 hunny $$$ and Im glad it fits you. A man with a shotgun he likes is tough to beat!

I hear ya. I'm not a huge pistol grip fan either. I think they are great for tactical guns nothing else though. This is the first shotgun I've shot with sights but really like it. I'm looking at some aftermarket barrels to turn it into a multi purpose gun. The back sight is a peep sight so that might have to come off for hunting or trap and skeet.

With all do respect sir, I ain't no one's queen! It's just an old saying between artillery and infantry. It's a known fact though but not meant to be personal

RELOAD and you get to pick whats in package number one, two, three, etc.
A lot of people are starting out with 00 for home defense then backoff to #4. Because of penetration to interior walls
I use the 870, its just what I prefer. I like a pump because I always multi hit "stuff" with a semi auto shotgun.
Plus I like to have the option of what load I will send based on the circumstances of the situation.
And I always load my shotgun in the same sequence all the time except when hunting.
So I have 2 #4, then a slug over 00, then 2 00 followed my 2 slugs. I have 3 00 and 3 slugs on the stock and 10 to 20 varied shells on the sling. Smaller loads to the back, slugs to the front.
I always count shots, so I know what is coming next. I may eject a live round to get to a slug or load in the cycle to use pellets.
I know what each round will do to a 2x4 wall with sheetrock, insulation, plywood and siding, or sheetrock and sheetrock. So I know what I can penetrate or not. #4 do a good job inside without going through to the next room. I know the slug over the 00 will penetrate any wall inside or on the outside of the house, I know my slugs will penetrate plywood or a car door at 70 yards.
I know that if I shoot any man sized target with or without body armour with any of the rounds I have loaded the target will go down and will be out of commission for a period of time.
I know I can bounce the 00 off of gravel or pavement and hit legs behind a car.
I know a slug will break an engine block at 50 yards.
In an urban setting I would rather have a shotgun and rounds I am familiar with.
Don't have a slug? Make cut shells. Only have bird shot? Dump the shot, melt some candle, or crayolas and make some slugs or clump rounds. #9 bird shot mixed with wax will penetrate an interior wall, #9 bird shot made into a cut shell will penetrate an interior wall.
Improvise Adapt and Overcome, it isn't just my motto, its my way of life.

They have always been good guns. Especially now that Remington is all but tits up, and waiting on a new owner that wants to make all electric fired guns. I see a couple of new semi-auto benelli's in my future. Take care of the arm. LOL
