OT, instead of coal in a Christmas stocking, you can put pine pitch. It is a multi use item. Not sure if hanging a stocking full of pine pitch off the fireplace mantel would be a good idea

MW used it to make some glue to make a spoon with a wooden handle and a shell for the bowl.

It sure did, and it's still his go-to spoon for all things outdoors.
