Found a .58 caliber H&R Huntsman muzzle loader at a show here a while back. Already have a .50 caliber in-line barrel for the H&R Handi rifle.....but couldn't leave it there. I don't think it has ever been shot.
Haven't been made in a while, so was wondering if anyone has one and what do you shoot out of it....round ball or conical bullet.
This is an early in-line but uses a #11 cap (standard) instead of the later models that use a 209 shot gun cap.

Screw in breech plug or rubber O ring? If I were you I wouldn't shoot unless it is screw in.
There is a conversion to the 209 but I don't think it makes a difference as long as you keep the hole through the breech plug clean. .209 makes a lot hotter spark.
While Daniel Boone might have shot out the flame on a candle with a round ball any shooting out past 75 yards I want a conical, much more accurate.

Kinda thinking the same thing.....some one has swamped out the end of the barrel....I suppose to help with loading? Kind of crude job....so don't know that it would help of hinder.... Not sure about screw in or "O" ring, breach plug....won't be my grab first go to....so don't really care.
Just seems old H&R's come here to find a good home.

If it works for you -> Go for it . I use Reals for deer and elk and have had good clean kills with very good accuracy . These conicals are also easy to convert to hollow points with a drill press jig . Good luck Hunter63

1-66 is definitely a round ball twist. WC

Seems the push in "o" ring is the up grade....so I have no qualms about shooting it, as it a break open.....even good of Dave Canterbury has a vid about using BP in a cut off 12 ga. brass.
