I don't understand why people are so anti Gerber and so pro Leatherman? I have 2 Gerber Multi Pliers and a Leatherman Wingman. They are all good tools. The Gerbers are about 10 - 15 yars old and still work well. I like my new Wingman too. What's the hubbub?

Had a Gerber about 10 or so years ago. Lasted about 8-9 months and it pretty much fell apart. Mind you I work my multitools. When it fell apart I tried a SOG. POS. I have two Leathermans. A Wave and the oldest one I can't recall the name. Only reason I have the Wave is, it was given to me as a gift. They still operate as they did when I got them.
Now having said all that, that was totally my experience. Yours may differ.

I have carried the Leatherman Wave for years and have other Leatherman multi-tools. I was given the Gerber Multi-Plier 800 Legend as a gift. I have not used it yet, but it does look tough and since it is one of the Gerber tools made in America it is a keeper. I do not have a problem with Gerber as a whole, but their made-in-China knives and tools are for someone else. Same though for most made in China products as far as I am concerned.

I would like to see craftsman make a multitool with that great guarantee. Or do they make one already?

I like the Gerber , even if the tools and blades don't lock like the Leatherman does . The pliers - the wire cutter on the Gerber work great . Have several Gerber blades and they all work fantastic . Have a Gerber MK 1 fighter from the Nam days and a 1980s MK 2 . Have 3 or 4 Gerber folders and they are simply the best . just my 2% Thanks for your post Pathwinder14

My old leatherman wave is a great tool but the wire cutters are not the best. The new line has replaceable cutting jaws, what a good idea.

Keep the Gerber in my bag in the truck for back up . Gerber knives and tools have a very strong rep . Have a Gerber Gator folder that has field dressed and quartered elk - deer and moose . Gerber is / was like everyone else in the states . They had Japan and other countries that made some of their blades for them . I have a Gerber ... small folder that is made in Japan - from Seki steel ... most likely the equivalent of AUS 8A stainless . A little razor blade of a knife . Gerber multi tools are excellent in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing . My BA opinion strikes again
