This is a weak area for me - need to work on it.
I wear cargo shorts and boots everyday for work and home, most of the year. When the temperature drops into the 50's I grab a sweatshirt. It has to get into the 40's before long pants come out of the closet. Next week will be the first time wearing long pants to work since mid March. But the forecast shows back into the 60's after that, so definitely shorts weather!

Jimmy Yeah but you wear them to scare women and little children. Lol I agree. If it's warm enough it's shorts. But maybe not so much in a SHTF situation

Yes, Sir - that was my point: I am under prepared with a whole lot of cargo shorts - unless of course I too need scare women and small children Seems to me that Jimmy's point is often overlooked by some of us (me): Folks would likely trade a whole lot of stuff for a warm wool sweater, heavy jacket - or even a thick sweatshirt. I know I would! I live pretty far South so cold isn't a big thing that we prepare for. And that could kill kill us.

Why not go find a Salvation Army Thrift Store and stock up now? You'll be benefitting a wonderful organization (unlike Goodwill! ) and saving big bucks over new duds.

For shoes and jackets that is exactly where I go. I have been buying shoes in all sorts of sizes and styles (about 18 pairs I think). They are mainly work/hiking type shoes/boots. I have purchased some for as cheap as 50 cents a pair. Cleaned them up, treated them with water proofer and have them in one of those 70-80 quart tubs. I added some desident (sp) and check on them every few months to make sure no mold has gotten a start. I also have a tub full (about 20) of med/heavy weight jackets and coats. Same deal, but for cheap from SA, take them to laundry mat, wash and dry them, spray them with some Lysol and pack them away with moth balls. I have maybe $30 invested in what I consider great trade/barter items in a not so good looking future. Jimmy

They make cargo pants with the zip off legs so you can convert them to shorts. Just stuff the legs in one of the pockets and you would have shorts if you wanted and long pants if you needed them.
Just sayin'

To some degree. We are big off season shoppers. Picking up gloves, coats and winter boots in the spring and shorts and tshirts in the fall. With some growing children a bit of planning a size or two ahead saves us $. There will probably be some clothes around, you'll just have to be okay with stripping them off the bodies in the street.

Though I do see yours and Woodyz's point, guess I hope that I don't have to go shopping in the killing fields for clothes.....along with whatever diseases might be running rampant at the time..... Think I'll try to have enough for the long haul..... And having said that, I also would resort if I had been run from my abode and had what's on my back....then you do what you have to do... Jimmy
