There was a big discussion about this a while back on ST. I'd like to get some ideas on what others do to secure the perimeter of their camp sites. I would also like to discuss about perimeter alarm for a SHTF scenario and a TEOTWAWKI situation.
A perimeter alarm warning system around your campsite or home is vital to your safety because it can warn you of the 4 , and 2 legged intruders that can be a danger to your health while camping or during a SHTF scenario. The alarm system can warn you if something (or someone) is coming and give you a chance to get your gun out and flashlight if is during the night.
I think that one of the best warning systems is a dog. (Animals, except for humans, are smart in the dark). They can hear, smell, and see things way before any human can.
Then we have other warning systems like motion detectors, and a less passive system like a Window or Door Alarm that is sold in Walmart, Lowes, and Homedepo. I find the Window or Door Alarm systems to be inexpensive and are a great addition to a B.O.B or even to have around the house. The alarm features two sound settings that are easily accessible using the off/chime/alarm switch and it has an audible tone of 120dB.
Here is a pic of the Window or Door Alarm System that can be purchased at the mentioned stores. The system can also be rigged with a fishing line at different locations as demonstrated in the youtube video.
Lowes also has a keychain alarm that can be purchase for $4.95 and used as a perimeter alarm while camping. Here is a pic of the keychain alarm and a youtube video on the set-up.
We also have a simple perimeter alarm using a rat trap, fishing line, black powder percussion caps, and a couple nails. It's my understanding the system can also be used with .22 rounds for more serious situations like during a TEOTWAWKI.
What other ideas do you have that are inexpensive that can be used for a campsite security, SHTF, and TEOTWAWKI scenario.
