Lumens versus Watts

Okay y'all don't laugh.

Is there a difference between the amount of light projected by 80 lumens versus 80 watts?

Yes. 80 watts is actually the usage rating for a bulb. For quite a few years there has been a lumens rating on standard wattage bulbs, ie: 40, 60, 75 etc. All have different lumen ratings.

Most of my carry lights are 100 lumens or better, that is more then bright enough to see what your doing. My most powerful flash light is a 500 lumens, that thing will light up heaven. Is there such a thing as being to bright for the job?

Lol, yes there is... I too have flashlight junkie leanings. Just maintaining some semblance of night vision makes me use some of my lower-lumen lights more often.

A person doesn't want to make the mistake of shinning a powerful 100 plus lumen light in someones eyes. If I need low power I just put my hand over the lens to filter out some of the light.

Just for the record I did sign up for youtube again under a different name. It's only for loading and sharing my videos but not on youtube, only on other forums like the bunker.
