A few suggestions; Find out when and if your nearest supermarkets close and for how long over Christmas. Many of them will have last minute markdowns, of perishables such as meats and veggies. Post Christmas, most holiday candles will be on sale. Those candles will burn just fine any time of year. Cured summer sausages for instance pop up on step discounts the day after Christmas. This particular brand goes a year in the freezer. hillshirefarm This sort of thing is what we consider intermediate preps. Last year, walmart dropped the 21 ounce beef version to 1.00. Outside of the freezer they usually go 6 months. We've also found the canned hams on step sales right after Christmas. Some of those go upwards of 10 years.

I hit the after Christmas sales last year and was able to get paper plates, plastic forks etc for practically nothing because they were marked down. I will be doing this again this year if possible. I did some Christmas shopping yesterday at Kroger and lots of items were already 1/2 off.

Lots of hunting and camping gear gets marked down drastically also making room for January White Sale. Like other seasonal items, paper plates, bowls, and napkins, eating utensils and plastic cups with Christmas color themes drop in prices from 75 to 90% off.
As cwi mentioned, candles of all shapes and sizes for pennies on a dollar. Of course don't forget winter clothing like heavy coats and jackets, thermal wear, throw blankets, wool items like socks, gloves and caps.
For those who like adding cinnamon sticks to their tea drinks, those are another item quickly reduced along with many other jarred spices mainly available at this seasonal time of the year, although now that I think of it they may reduce those after New Years.
Lots of people do their Christmas or birthday shopping for the coming year making bargains on big tag items.

I will definitely be on the lookout for any of those, as well as, the sausages and hams. I beginning to get as excited about after Christmas as Christmas itself...lol

Oh man.....WallyWorld the day after Christmas? That is some kind of demented hatred for your fellow man!! Ah, maybe it's worth it. The scenery alone might be worth the price of admission. p.s. I've found if you can wait until just after the first of the year WMT puts their winter clothing items on deep discounts, perfect for loading up extras for the truck, cabins, etc.

This is also something many people aren't aware of. In January Vegas holds its annual electronics trade show featuring new models for the upcoming year. Once this occurs, keep your eyes peeled for NAME BRAND items of t.v.'s, computers, and other items along those lines going on sale soon after to make room for new stock. Hillshire Farm has its own website and prices on gift baskets get slashed. Some of these will be offered online by Walmart and other stores of your liking but you need to be quick 'cause they get scooped up quickly. Don't forget your furry friends. Stockings filled with toys and treats also go on sale.
