Yup, I agree with crash. It's thin, but tasty. Hmm, maybe I should use that for my bacon shell taco's instead.....

We have several cases of it. At that price, it's time to add some more.

Oh to be able to spend $110 on bacon. If I went down $110 I would literally be on the street.

The last can we opened was seven years old. Tested and tasted just fine.

Oh to be able to spend $110 on bacon. If I went down $110 I would literally be on the street. I feel ya man. We go paycheck to paycheck. Thus most of my "prepping" is scrapping for knowledge. One of the reasons I appreciate this forum. Or another idea is you could get a piglet for under $60, feed it table scraps, and get a book on charcuterie. Then you would end up with so much more than bacon!! Sorry, the farmer in me coming out

Of all the many skills I wish I had the first would be FARMER. I was raised in the city but my uncle had a dairy/chicken farm in AR and my brother raised an acre garden/couple pigs/and a beef cow, and I was free labor for both.. so I learned a tiny bit but I know how much I don't know. I can do some gardening but not nearly enough knowledge.. I too learn so much on here.. daily

Our group actually has canned bacon. We don't typically eat the yoders ourselves, though I do personally carry a can when camping. It goes nicely with the ova easy eggs in the morning. Our primary purpose is food baskets when a family, person, etc has there house burn down, loses it in a flood or tornadoes. One of our members was sued years back after giving out a basket of home canned food under the premise of food poisoning. The AZ hat should not have sworn it was canned apples when there was no apples given. Much less allow themselves to be recorded bragging about all the money they were going to make from the suit. Bottom line is, it was a huge hassle, one that is avoided by using only commercial items. It is sad that we must do that, but the risk otherwise is not worth it.

We never have. Cwi's assessment is pretty much what my research has turned up.

Understand CW I would not give out any home canned in a FOOD BASKET. IT is common here to give out jams and such during the Holidays but only to those you know. My post was to inform that canning meat is possible and a bit cheaper. Yes there is alot of A$$$$ Holes around the food cupboards and free pantries that do this sort of thing. We worked with a group that help those that needed it and when we started seeing the same faces every week, and started getting the you owe me this, we now support the Vets/families of the area with clothing and blankets and furniture, when the county VA sends them to us. I am sorry that happened and GLAD they screwed themselves.
