Ha, I just made one at my desk using a pair of scissors. Use a grub as bait, thread it through the hook and the rest through, the top ring. Let the fish take it away.

The gap is so small that the hook part will never grab and penetrate. 9 times out of 10 it will just pull out in my opinion. If it was possible to open up the gap, then it would up your odds. Still it's a good idea and with a little modification you could improve it's catch rate...thanks for sharing.

The tip or bait part is very sharp, I'd venture to say it would come in handy as a makeshift cutting device for small tasks. As to the gap being small, it can be pulled out to widen it in hopes of improving it's catch rate. Having said that, because it is aluminum it broke after adjusting it a couple of times so if you are in a desperate situation and make a hook of the tab, be careful with it and make it count!

Bend the "hook" sideways so it'll bite the fish back when he bites. "Cab-Overs" I like that.
