I say BS
Just another way to price gouge, last summer 1.89, this summer 2.49, now 3.39.
I saw this coming as I said in a earlier post I bought a 1000 gallon tank and filled it when it was 1.89 and I don't use propane.
I'm letting my good neighbors I can mostly trust take what they need for 2.00, then this summer I will refill my tank (I bet I won't get it for $2 though) oh well.
The average residential cost on Jan 13, 2014 was $2.84 The average wholesale cost was 1.71

Liberals in big cities don't use propane. It's a conspiracy to hurt rednecks

Cost increase is not coming from a shortage. Remember how it was we got to three plus dollar gas prices. Shortage scares then a bit of a drop, then the prices settled in over a dollar higher per gallon. I don't think many get it. The energy giants are going to make their profit margin regardless of world events. Historically, this is how they have operated across the board for 3/4 of a century. Governments have investigations, raise a stink, point fingers, jump up and down about fairness, all the while going behind closed doors and politely asking for more money from them. It is a game, it will always be a game, right up until the end. Consider this; Governments reap large volumes of taxes from gasoline, propane, etc sales. They also hit us twice with unseen taxes related to 'environmental concerns'. We here reams of noise about carbon this and carbon that. It's unsustainable, it's evil, why those big oil companies are just out to gouge us.... This from the government. If a technology existed to get 88mpg in a normal car such as a golf, don't you think the government should be pushing it? VW golf UKInteresting. How about something different. Toyota Rav4 SUV. Rav457 for the Diesel 39 for the gas model. Around the world, there are engines and cars pulling significantly better gas mileage than here. However, just try going to the dealership and ordering one. VW will hand you a song and dance about it won't meet emissions. horseSH**. It's better on emissions than most we have here. Crash test? better than most here. So it's better on emissions, crash test, and mpg. So why isn't it sold here? TAXES. Legalized Marijuana for instance is a given, and will happen in the very near future nationwide. Why? the government is losing to much in tax revenue to people quitting smoking. They could care less if you lived or died. Most of the taxes on tobacco products are there to pay for 'health cost of smoking'. Yet it never seems to work out that way. To point, every form of energy you can mention will be climbing significantly to pay for the governments waste. There is a reason energy was removed from the 'official' inflation rate by government standards.

Huuummmmmm Jim Jan 15----$3.71 Jan 23----$3.99 Today-Feb 5---$4.79 NW Central FL. The dealer said they may have to start rationing if cold weather up north keeps up. If there is not a shortage, someone is doing some serious lying. And it is costing me money! Jim

When electricity/fuel is gone or in short supply, I intend to use natural gas and/or propane. If I want electric I have to have fuel for a generator, if I want to drive a vehicle I have to have fuel.
For me, propane was a no brainer.
I will more than likely bury and fill another 1000 gallons at the next price decrease/glut

Aha!!!!!! So you're the reason for the shortage and the price increase. AND you don't even use it...YET,!!
That was a smart move on your part. It's all about the money. I'm not in a position to spend almost $3000 on something I might use in the future. But it is an excellent plan.

I was including the cost of the tank in the $3000. Today, here where I live it would cost almost $5000
