I read some place, (it escapes me where) that we should do something each and every day toward being prepared for SHTF scenarios, even if it's something minor. What and how? If this is an overlap of other threads please forgive me, I'm a N00B. Lany

If possible daily is great if your work and family schedule allows, I have maintained weekly, usally adding to prepes, practicing bush skills. In my opinion pratice what you've learned, for that can never be left behind or taken from you.

I've been cramming knowledge into my brain, memorizing recipes to be used in a disaster that require minimal ingredients and/or preparation, reading up on all and every use for the herbs I grow, experimenting with different grains and foods and ways to prepare them such as wood stove, electric burners, sterno, outside grilling, learning also about the many uses for apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, olive and coconut oils etc. and of course learning first aid in a more in depth way than ever before. I guess reading would qualify me for doing something daily because it's all I ever read about now. lol

Your mind is your number 1 prep. Without it all of your other preps are almost worthless.
Not only filling your mind with knowledge but then practicing that knowledge until it becomes a skill.
Skills are your number 2 prep, without them you can't use your knowledge.
You can learn how to shoot a gun from a book, but you will never be skillful with a gun until you turn that knowledge into a skill.
The same can be said for an ax or a piece of rope, raising food to eat or finding food.
While your job/family commitments/finances may limit you to acquiring stores weekly/monthly or whenever you can.
Number 1&2 can be expanded everyday.

I really do more than just read. I put a lot of what I've learned into practice.

Please excuse me if I am misunderstood
Not meaning to be specific in my use of YOU
Meant to be entirely generic

Study while you can. It won't be much longer before the internet is filtered to the point of being hampered.
I EDC a short piece of paracord (3') for the purposes of practicing knots while reading procedures, or other required reading at work.
Start a fire once a day with a 1 of 6 minimum methods if you have 5 minutes to spare.
Brainstorm alternative uses of various materials. My grandfather used to hand me a random item, or go pick one out myself, then he would require me to tell him how it's made, then make me write 20 alternative uses for it. Chose a few of them and try them out when you have time.
Practice situational awareness everywhere you go, and every second your awake. You will find that you do it already but it's not likely as refined as you may think it is. Break it down by the senses, cover your eyes and listen, plug your ears and see, blind and plug your ears to feel, learn the subtle differences in taste. When at the store, feel, smell, and visualize the packages, fruits, veggies, etc that you are shopping for (a good idea to be discrete here). You get the idea.
Did I mention study?

Lany... WoodyZ posted this the other day on the same thread.. You might find some useful ideas to put into use here.. they've offered great advice.. pick your weakest area and begin a steady appraisal of how to improve there. survivalbunker.proboards.com/thread/7303/preps-52-weeks
