Self defense and martial arts come with a whole host of red tape once someone steps into the realm of using those skills to "defend" themselves. Most times it is not self defense. It is an excuse to use said skills. That excuse will and has landed people in jail. Read this: www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/They give all sorts of good information on how to choose a school and how to avoid certain legal problems by maintaining your responsibility as a private citizen. Defending your honor or emotions is not self defense. Self defense is a legally defined term. Please read it if you want to learn martial arts/self defense.

To me, the concept of self defense is not a whole lot different whether using a gun, a knife, a ballpoint pen, a fist or a car. As I see it, one of root problems facing our society is a lack of personal responsibility and legal/moral accountability for one's actions. Choice of weapon doesn't change the basics. The world according to me
