Anyone own any Estwing hatchets or field axes? I have an Estwing claw hammer with the blue rubber handle and its nearly indestructable. Wonder how good the axes are? www.estwing.com/axes_outdoor.php

No axes or hatchets. I agree, one of the best hammers out there.

I've used the Estwing hatchet and camp axe. Like them both.

had an estwing hatchet back in the uk (present from my father) but had to leave it behind when i moved to aus, excellent steel and held its edge well, it took me a little while to get the sharpening right on it (my problem not the estwing) but once i had got my eye in it was my go to camp/hunting tool, that and a good sharp knife and i was set

I have the hatchet with leather handle that I got at the Camp David retreat, as one of our gift, trade, exchange thingies. It has been great. It has been grand son tested at our deer site. By the end of summer all it needed was a minor file touch up and then honed, some oil on the handle and good as new. I love the all metal handle and head. Maybe not the worlds best metal but plenty good for a worker. Best of all, it was FREE!!! Wooohoooo.

I have 2 of the leather handled camp axes with 30 years on them, the mid size blue axe is my favorite, longer handle gives better results yet not to long to pack. Last summer purchased the tomohawk www.estwing.com/ao_black_eagle_tomahawk_black.php I like it as well. The spear tip side of the hawk doesn't come sharp, I left it that way and use for digging Dakota Fire pits, harvesting roots, recently breaking long ice from the roof. In my opinion a estwing is an investment.

3 Estwing blue handle carpenters hammers, love them. 3 2 pound drilling hammers. 2 hatchets. I used to use the hatchets a lot for camping and staking mining claims, same with the 2# hammers. One leather handle hatchet was inherited from a guy that claimed he carried it in the Pacific campaign in WW2. To me the Estwing hatchets' haft, style, ease of use are the best I have ever had the chance to use. Have several other hatchets that are only good for use as clumsy hammers.

I like a wood handle on any striking tool, absorbs impact so you can work longer. Imagine if your car had no suspension while driving on a bumpy road.
