never really had an issue with that walter, I have a Gerber/Fiskars camp axe too which has been awesome with the fiberglass handle and other than it slipping it works just as well as any wood handle tool. A caveat on the Gerber though, it has a different feel to it being straight and having a slight negative angle on the head.
