I really like the two I just bought. The original one (Rayovac) that was dead (I thought), just needed an attitude adjustment. I accidentally dropped , threw it down on the floor and the dang thing is working perfect! ;D Can you imagine that? Jim

When I need a headlamp, I just take the Pelican 1920 out of my pocket and clip it to a ball cap. It works perfectly.

I have a Petzel. Can't remember which one, but I have not been able to break it in two years.

Definitely go for LED (obvious). I'm not overly impressed by any one brand, but I prefer those that take 2 AAA batteries (vs 3 AAA) for BOB purposes it is easier to make use of spare batteries when in even numbers..... Six is an even number too (as in 2 sets of 3). I keep 6 spare AAA batteries for my Petzl headlamp handy in one of these Powerpax battery cases: www.powerpax.net/SlimLine-AAA_c_13.htmlOnidah
