Stopped by Walmart early this morning to pickup a few gallons of bleach for my aerobic system.
They had 34 boxes of 50 BMG. Now that's not something you will see in many areas.
No more limits on purchases, except for .22lr. Of course they had no .22lr.......
But everything else I can think of including .32, .380, 9mm, .40, 44 mag, .45 and all normal rifle calibers from .22-250 up through .300 Mag was stacked high and deep.
The only thing missing that I could see, was .38 special HP and and any kind of .357 mag. (Which was what I wanted) So, I left with some 7mm mag and some 9mm.
It's nice to see a really well stocked ammo case again!

Most here are fairly well stocked now, except for. 22 and 38 cal stuff....not perfect but much better than just 3-4 months ago.
Lots of 9, 40 and 45. All 30 cal rifle. All 223, 308 and 30.06 case sizes. All rifle magnum.
And at normal prices....

OK, I couldn't resist....I just had to get some...just because You can't even own a 50 BMG in some states, but there lot of them just in my small county, so Walmart sells the ammo. There is a local club for 50 BMG owners who meet every two months to shoot on a private 475 yard range. It's Federal American Eagle XM33 660 gr fmj. A .22lr round, an AR-15 round, an AK-47 round, a .50 BMG round and a Silver Bullet round of diet beer. Yes, laugh if you must, but I'm down 12 lbs. by switching to diet beer. Marc

I've noticed a lot of 50 cal in the Wal-Mart's around me as well. Interesting because before the pinch I don't recall ever seeing it.

I've noticed a lot of 50 cal in the Wal-Mart's around me as well. Interesting because before the pinch I don't recall ever seeing it. The popularity around here has been steadily increasing since both Armalite and Barrett got into the sub $4,000 range for a solid base model bolt gun. As more people get good with them, folks see how fun they are, so they need to get one too. Long range sniper training classes for the .50 BMG's are booked out about a month ahead now. The courses for smaller bore rifle sniper training are even more in demand. I'm probably the only guy in town who hasn't been.
