Worse yet is the attitude of our governor and many of the legislators who are basically telling us to **** off. For that matter there were some pieces of conversation with the governor that proved the legislation was planned long before the shooting happened.

On the other side of what kicked in today is that this Saturday gun owners all over CT are going to head to Hartford to peacefully assemble and give every politician a piece of their mind through their presence. If Facebook event numbers mean anything: about 3,600 plan to show up.

Seriously, wouldn't be surprised.

Seriously, wouldn't be surprised. The only ones who want to see doors kicked in are the peons who are planning a counterrally, idiotic editorial staff, and even more idiotic politicians. Vast majority of LE aren't interested in kicking the doors down, and those who read the law know that once they hang up their badge they are no better than us "peasants;" further deterring interest in enforcing this law. Take down license plate info? This is Hartford; not D.C. or NYC. They have nowhere near enough cameras to even get half of them, and any LE present are only going to be focused on keeping the peace at the rally sight. They don't have time to write down plate info.

Probably, but there have been a few articles posted on a firearms forum where a few CT lawmakers and LEO's are talking big about making home visits and enforcing the law as written. Doesn't seem to be the majority.

If any sheriff or police chief wanted reelection or appointment they will not be doing home visits. A) no manpower for it, B) there are still a ton of fourth amendment issues

Any state that passes laws like that, has enough resources to photograph a crowd and some parked cars. It doesn't take a any expensive technology or manpower to grab some frames of a crowd, then apply face recognition software. The free Google program, Picasa, does a very credible job of finding faces. Try opening a picture of a person in your own home, then watch it spot you in a tiny picture hanging on the wall in the background. Heck, they could probably collect a lot of intel from Facebook, gathered by folks from both the "anti" and "pro" side in the crowd.
Strict laws were passed. People have willfully chosen to break those laws. You can rest assured that someone will come along and use it as an excuse to do something, at some point in time.
They are obviously becoming more brazen in CT about stomping on the rights of an individual, so the next steps are pretty obvious to me. All in the name of the children of course........

You just need to use the camera in the cop car or the one the officer is wearing

Guys, if they really wanted to collect names and kick down doors they would've already done so. Even before this law kicked in a CT firearm purchase meant filling out 2 forms: the 4473, and the DPS 3 C. Copies of the latter get sent to CT Dept. Public Safety for every transaction, as well as local police where the purchaser resides. The forms have the make, model, and serial number of the firearm, and all personal info of the purchaser. These forms are the reason why estimates of how many didn't register what are currently defined as illegal firearms are where they are. Everyone knew at least someone wouldn't register, but no one in the state government, the politicians especially, expected the number to be as high as it's currently estimated.
I only know of two folks who talked big about kicking down doors. One was a dip-wad who got taken out of the picture (not for what he said, but for other reasons) plus the idiot LT who only knows how to follow orders (per his conversation with a female over the phone). Actual conversations I know of indirectly (talking with gun shop owners who talk with state/local LE) indicate no one wants to enforce it, and many don't know how they can enforce it without becoming a CT version of the Gestapo.
Most locals around here are expecting enforcement of this law to come about because you got caught doing something else (ex. you're pulled over and you happen to have an unregistered AR in your trunk), and if they're going to go after anyone they'll go after those who have the bigger collections first. The bigger the collection the better the publicity and making them (LE) look good.

You're right - kicking down doors may not be the point today, and probably was not the intention of passing the laws. Based on the wording in your post, I can't help but feel that you don't see the laws as a particularly big problem.
Think of a scenario where you pissed someone off for some totally unrelated reason, like writing a nasty letter to the editor. The cops can say: "Oh, we got an anonymous tip about a gun hoarder" or "We heard that he was growing pot" or "He threatened someone" ....... so they show up with a nice legal warrant - and make nice headlines.
I would suspect that the bigger collections of guns are less important the "visibility" of the bust for other reasons. Envision the headline produced by cops finding an unregistered 10/22 rifle, some normal BX-25 magazines and a couple of boxes of 500 rounds of ammo:
"Ex-Marine caught with assault style rifle and a huge ammo cache - is this another case of PTSD?"
The frog in the pot doesn't feel the water gradually heating up until it's too late.
