I got interested in finding out about Tom Brown Jr. after I decided his "Tracker" Knife was going to be my new survival knife. Any knife that comes with writted instructions might be worth considering. More on the knife and my decision in another post. What I wanted to do here was point you to a series of Mother Earth News articles he wrote. Most of the topics have been discussed and re-cussed here many times, so they most be relevant, but I think his articles do a good job of explaining things. Find the links to them in the books and articles section of this wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Brown,_Jr.

Thanks for the OP woodyz. Tom Brown Jr. gets mixed reviews around the wilderness-skills/primitive-skills/survivalist community; but, IMHO, he's the real deal. Many/Most of the folks out there now teaching "survival" classes and skills were one time students of Tom's. He's been livin' the life and walkin' the talk for half a century. Tom has been a tad frantic, lately. He sees the tipping point just ahead and is warning that it may soon be time for "the children of the earth" to head for the "wilderness." His biggest (of many concerns) seem to be wide spread of disease (especially in urban areas), and the poisoning of humanity by our self-created "chemical cesspool." Here's a better Wiki link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Brown_(naturalist)

Hey, woodyz, and others interested... Tom Brown, Jr. just released a short video on his blog page that clearly illustrates what I wrote in the previous post, above. I think it's worth watching/listening to. I think his perspective is worth considering. Does that make me a wacko? What do y'all think? May 12, 2014 post titled, SURVIVAL: tom-trackerschool.com/
