I discovered a wonderful way to EDC wateproof tinder that is no thicker than a few sheets of paper. I take a small stack of birch bark and wrap it in a 2" x2" duct tape envelope. It slides easily into my wallet. The duct tape keeps the water proof birch bark from making a mess in my wallet. It keeps it drier, and the tape is also flammable. All I do is open it up with my knife and hit it with a good spark. Forget vaseline soaked cotton balls that can eventually dry out and are messy. This is so much more reliable and mess free. It also packs super small for EDC.
Let me know what you all think.

That sounds like a great thinking out of the box idea and I will make up some of those. Thanks for posting this.

Pathwinder, thanks for your offer. My house is under contract and I'm about to be homeless in a fifth wheel for awhile. I'll get settled and we can get something worked out later. But I do appreciate your idea and especially your kind offer. Thanks David
