Hurricane Floyd gave us 5' of water in the house that remained there for 19 days. Are and were we blessed? Very, but I'll refrain from posting the litany. Have we had days like your Monday? Many. The difference here (this forum) is that we're all inclined to get through it once we've had our (however brief) wallow in self-pity (and I could probably lead that particular pack some days, lol). We (here in this house) muddled through just fine and despite the inconveniences, found many reasons to be truly thankful.

Ok it's time for a little perspective. Primarily I'm just venting. You're welcome to comment, commiserate, or LOL. I'm good with any and all. Cause I've already had my pity party, my stomping ranting 'why me' episode, and then just plain defeated attitude. For about 30 seconds. So how was your Monday. Drove my pickup into town in case my coworker brought the pallets she's giving me. Just dark enough when I left I needed headlights. Previous owner cut the 'dinger' for open door, no seat belt and 'fool, you left your headlights on. High Beam!!' Yep 25 mins later coming out of braums after breakfast I see my tail lights on. Yep, dead battery. Jumper cables I just had my hands on? Garage. Uh huh! Bought a new battery. Work? Seems like every patient I got today was a freakin nightmare. Harder to register, no orders, sullen. Had a few good ones interspersed. But not a great Monday at the office. Come home. Hit 40* today. Water should be thawed. Turn the valve. No water. Walk to the well house. All the water a fellow could want. On the floor. On the work bench. On the wall. I've built my own miniature creek beside it. I've checked it everyday. I visually go in and look for signs of freezing pipe. Look for drips. Nothing. Today I didn't even have to get close. Just hit the breaker switch. Shut right off. So, I've said all of that to tell you all of this. I'm prepped. I've got water. I've got food. I've got propane. So I've got hot water and hot food. I've got heat and a nice warm bed (in spite of having to switch tanks at 2am this morning, my first clue for the day I reckon). I live in a great place, with great friends, now with a good job, I couldn't be more blessed. So has it been a crappy day? You bet! Did I work through about 29 different emotions (and bad words) in about 30 seconds when I got home? Uh huh! I did! But, I'm not humping an 80 lb ruck in the desert with ragheads trying to kill me. I don't have all the different diseases that people have when I register them at the hospital. I'm not living under a bridge freezing my ass off wondering if I'll eat tomorrow. Not me. I'm blessed. I've got a great God, a great America, and a wonderful Oklahoma that provides land for Camp David. I've said it before, I ain't rich but I'm the wealthiest guy on this forum. And now, well, I'm just smilin'. If you care which football team wins, enjoy the game. I don't care but I'm for anybody that plays Alabama. I don't care which division III team is on their schedule either. I hate Alabama football. Thank you

Well just completed a 2 day stay at Camp David. As usual was great. We burned so powder. Actually got a new 22 sighted in. Got TW started on the woodworking hand tool path. We spent Saturday after in Woodcraft and watching The Reviant (in think that's the way it's spelled). Ate good. Typical Camp David weekend.
Thanks to a great host and brother from another mother...lol
Headed farther west now. Gonna spend a day or two wondering around Arizona. Then on the CA.
Jimmy

It was another great weekend with Missasip. If only Okie hadn't been looking for rustic bracelets in a line around the block.

Well another step in learning. I start a knife making class tonight. One night a week for three hours a night for ten weeks. Will probably take him all thirty hours to pound that knowledge in my head. Looking forward to seeing how and learning the steps in making a knife. Think it'll be fun. There are only six in this initial class so one on one time shouldn't be a problem. I know nothing about steel and very little about the process of actually making knives, other than watching Crash's videos. So, just another small step.

Good for you. We all know that knowledge is never lost and I think knife making would serve you well. Have fun!

We were channel surfing the other night and caught an ad for "Forged in Fire" Wife looks at me and says "Why aren't you watching that?" I responded with "Well, for one thing, I watch more than enough TV and all watching that would do is fuel the fire for another hobby that I don't have the time or the money to get into".
I have no doubt I'd be proficient at it and dearly want to get into it but things like that are like crack to me. Once I start, it's all or nothing.
