Anybody here use a shoulder holster? My good 'friend' has a six inch 357 and needs a way to haul it around. Its just too much for the hip I think and was wondering if they made a good one that wont break the bank that has speed pouches on support side? Wont be for everyday carry, he just wants to take to the woods on occasion while deer huntin.

Back in the late '80s I had a 6" model 19. I also had a big Bowie looking knife a friend made for me. Took both to a leather worker and he made a shoulder holster for the gun and a sheath for my knife that balanced everything just fine. The sheath snapped onto the the shoulder harness and/or I could just wear it on my belt. In the long term he will be glad he spent the money for a quality rig that met his particular needs. Make it expandable as body types change after 30+ years. :-)

Got a shoulder holster for my S&W 500. It's the only way to carry it besides in its case. I like it. Makes me feel like Dirty Harry stepping up his game.

I used a shoulder holster for a bit. Not the greatest, but functional an reasonably comfortable - made by Uncle Mikes. Won't break the bank.

Bianchi and Galco both make good shoulder rigs. I have a Bianchi x-15 that is going on 40 years old and still going strong. The good thing about it is it will carry a K frame smith or a 1911. I may need to look at bag masters site as well. I prefer horizontals since my six pack turned in to a keg. LOL

Another vote for Galco I have the Miami Classic. You can mix and match holsters and mag / speedloader carriers for the off side.

I like to use a SH in the winter or if I am dressing "up" in a suit or suit coat. When concealed carrying a larger or heavier handgun I will use a SH. I like the crossdraw option it gives me from under my left arm. I too like the "uncle Mikes" but I made a few modifications to mine. First I bought a pair of wide stretchy nylon black suspenders, with the big heavy clips. www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-accessories/mens-suspenders/80025.aspx Then I cut off the stretchy belt loops with velcro from both sides of the SH. I replaced the belt loops with pieces of the suspenders cut to just a little shorter then to my belt. Now I can put the SH on over my head, pull the restrains down a little on each side and clip them to my belt. They do make models without belt loops and with the handgun holster hanging vertical where you can attach the end on your belt. I prefer my handgun to hang horizontal and up higher under my arm and pulled down in the middle to my belt. The left side holds two mags and hangs vertically but high with the magazines opening to the bottom. In my opinion the "good" leather ones are better, but in my experience the nylon ones last longer in the jungle where everything gets/stays wet, so I got used to the nylon ones. Glaco and Berreta both make models that have a tight clip built in and don't require a snap or loop to hold the gun in. Probably others but I am familiar with those two.

Well it was easy to see why she needed the double strap. I'd sell tickets to watch her try to find that pistol in a hurry.
