Yep,
I am going against my own decision to send the wife to someone else to teach her how to shoot! Will start off with the .22 and see where it goes. She is excited, I am %50 excited and %50 scared, for my own sanity!

Really? I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised and good for you for stepping up and for her for wanting to learn and being excited. Make it romantic and she'll start outshooting you.. lol Guys always seem to think they can't add romance to the hard stuff in life.. you make target practice romantic and she'll start buying you ammo just so y'all can go shoot..  |

Hey, She's Excited! That is more than half the battle. Tons of guys would love to be in your shoes just to get the wife to agree to try it.

My unsolicited advice is to TAKE her shooting, have some fun, and leave the TEACHING to another. It is my guess she is excited to spend time with you doing something you have obvious interest in. Of course, I am wrong a lot too..... |

Whatever you do, don't tell her the holster makes her butt look big. Especially when that holster is filled. Just sayin....

It doesn't matter who teaches her, the importance is she feels ready to learn and will probably feel more comfortable having someone else teach her.  |

Well it was a hell of a success. Took the .22 rifle, AR, full frame and sub compact pistol and the benelli out. Gave her the quick run down of them all how they operate etc.. and quick how to on grip and stance. I shot each one before she did so that she atleast had an idea of what they would look and sound like and the recoil of each.
She shot each one of them. To my suprise she liked my little subcompact xd that I carry more than the full frame. There where a couple other people out there with us so we shoot originally at the 30ish yard line which was the closest the range had. Once they all left we moved up. Started at a few feet with two shoots, after two succesful shots on he target we moved back a step. She was hitting a roughly 12 inch circle at about 9ish feet with the subcompact almost every time.
She put 5 rounds of #8 shot through the benelli and said that was enough.
She was timid about the AR because of the noise but when she picked it up and was comfortable with it she decided it was a blast to do some blasting. I wasn't really concered about the shot placement of .22 rifle or AR and benelli but she really enjoyed the .22 rifle.
So much so that as I began picking up the spent brass she reloaded the .22 several times herself.
Chief(Congrats) I think was correct in it was more of wanting to do something that I enjoy doing with me. She made the comment a couple of times that we could come out and do this more! SUCCESS.
She played around with the grip on the full size pistol and was beginning to become comfortable with it towards the end.
I am looking at getting her set up with some of the local shooting ranges that have ladies nights. Might even get a new gun out of the whole ordeal if she really takes a liking to it!

Sounds like a huge success. Must be very satisfying for the wife to take a liking to shooting. Good gir her. A weekly date to go shoot
