It's just that simple, some bees wax and dried Mullein leaf. No melting needed just dry the Mullein leaf then form the bees wax around the leaf. You now have a bushcraft candle, how cool is that. By the way i'm not done with the Mullein plant, more to come.

very cool, looking forward to more on the Mullien plant, so far I have made ear ache medicine from the flowers, the fresh leaves are great toilet paper, the dried stalk is suppose to be great for use in bow drill fire making and the root makes a good socket for the bow drill. I have also read that the top part where the flowers grow dipped in kerosene make a great torch.

I believe the leaves could be charred to catch a spark from flint and steel.

Well O.T. yo motivated me and I went and got some nice huge Mulliem leaves and am drying, plan on getting more maybe Monday along with some flowers. Cool! looking forward to see what you come up with. One thing about the mullein leafs, when drying you can over dry them. If you do over dry them they will crumble into tiny little pieces. Keep the leaves soft by adding a little moisture or keep in a humid environment. I haven't had my leaves long enough to see how they hold up, will they mold because of moisture? Can they be stored in ziplok baggies for the long haul? They seem to have the ability to hydrate if there is moisture in the air. Wondering if the hairs on the leaves have to ability to catch and hold a spark from a flint and steel. Can you split the leaf and use what is inside the leaf for fire starting? Just a few questions I need to answer before I can give my seal of approval.

I looked up medicinal uses, , Bronchitus (smoking mullien leafs)other breathing problems, I plan on dehydrating and lighting and use the smoke, also have antiseptic propertys, and treatment for hemmoroids. It also said some may have allergic reaction to the hairs.

Just passing along what I been told, guess will have to try it and see what happens.

Well harvetsed some Mullien leaves and flowers yesterday. Dehydrated the leaves for 8 hours until curled but they were still soft no moisture when pulled apart. Tried my firesteel on fresh and dryed leaves without success also tried Bic lighter very little success, inhaled some smoke to see if any irritation, none apparent. Will dry the flowers and make ear ache medicine from it.

Will dry the flowers and make ear ache medicine from it. I pulled a mullein plant the other day it was over 6 ft tall. I'm letting it air dry so I can use the main stem for a spindle. The leaves will make great candles and wicks for my oil lamps...don't forget the pith will catch a spark from a good flint and steel kit without being charred first. I prefer an empty bic to a flint and steel kit but the flint and steel kit is way cooler and more bushcrafty.
