Simple! 1 deer roast, beef broth, Italian dressing seasoning packet, banana pepper slices.
Put roast in the croc-pot, Fill with beef broth but dont cover the meat all the way, Put in packet of seasoning, Sprinkle a handful of peppers on it, Cook on low for a few hours and serve. I use corn starch to thicken juices for gravy or serve as is au-jus. This recipe also works wonders on a beef roast that has a little fat on it too

I got a big old pork shoulder I am going to put in the croc tomorrow. Was going to smoke it but physics is smoking me so crocpot it is. I've only had deer sausage. Can't wait to graduate in december so I can get on with life and finally get out hunting.
Is a deer roast similar t beef?

Yes but, it is much leaner and has a drier texture. I like to shred it and drown it in the au-jus or gravy and serve open faced

The one secret I learned a long time ago about cooking meat is how to tenderize it and I learned this from a chef on t.v. If you're stovetop cooking it, place it whole in a pot, medium heat, no seasoning and let it boil at least an hour. Works every time for me. And when cooking a roast, garlic and onions are your friend which contribute greatly to the meats flavor.
