Hey you taught me something today. I hadn't thought of using treeroots to break branches. The y of a tree I use a lot, and for really small stuff I'll use my knee or walk on it. In fact, I can't remember the last time I used a tool to cut firewood. If I need big stuff, I usually stretch it across the fire and burn through it to make smaller pieces of it. Great video, keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the video OffTrail. It's always the small things that make a difference. I taught this to my young Marine friend that I have made mention of here before. He was just a boy and we were at Hunting Camp. I showed him how to break up firewood in much the same way as you have shown. He was so thrilled that about breaking up all this wood by the end of the hunt there was not a stick of wood on the ground for 200 yards around the camp! Ah, to be young and so energetic!

They asked if they could help ;D ;D ;D, lets just say I had me a coffee break and the wood kept pilling up.......lol ....nice ;D ;D

His Dad and I were just sitting in our lawn chairs sipping our coffee while this kid was just busting his guts to gather all this firewood. We just kinda looked at one another and grinned. I told his Dad "You know this really makes us look like Old Timers, us just sittin here while this young buck does all the work!" He smiled and said "Yeah I know.....Sorta nice, ain't it?" I just nodded and said "Yep!" and took another sip of coffee!
